Rev. Chantel Nelson
comes to us from Dallas, TX via Mississippi and Louisiana. She
received her Master of Divinity degree from Brite Divinity
School, an affiliate of Texas Christian University in Forth
Worth, TX. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in
Family Life Studies with a minor in Psychology and a Master of
Arts degree in General Counseling. Pastor Chantel joins us with
almost 20 years of professional experience working with children
and families in crisis. She has provided ongoing education to
various community and professional groups regarding children and
grief, working with families in crisis, sibling support, and
parenting. She last worked as a Court Appointed Special Advocate
Supervisor advocating for the needs of abused and neglected
children.
Pastor Chantel
completed her ministry internship at St. Paul’s UMC in Fort
Worth, TX where she assisted with the Sr. Sunday School
education, the youth group, pastoral care, and preaching. She
provided pulpit supply to various churches within the
Dallas/Fort Worth area while a student in care of Cathedral of
Hope, UCC, Dallas, TX.
Pastor Chantel is
an advocate of social justice and restorative justice issues
with an emphasis on the LGBTQ and other minority communities.
She also has a concern for eco-justice issues as well.
